I didn't graduate from Nurnberg High but attended seventh and eighth grades there. I took a German course with a male teacher who spoke with a gravely voice. Anyways, my textbook had a taped up cover with a "time capsule" note hidden inside the cover. I think it was from the late '70s. I didn't find this note until I was back stateside for a couple of years. The books were discontinued and we got to keep the books. That's how I ended up with it. If you are the student who hid the note it the book cover of a German language textbook, I found it and placed it back in the book cover. The last I saw of that textbook was in Fort Hood, Texas. I just graduated from college, my Dad retired from the military and we were moving out of base housing. I have no idea what happen to the book but it may still be around, laying sitting on the bookshelf of someone's library in the Fort Hood area.

I lived in Nurenburg from 1970-1976--transferred back to the States and graduated in 1979 in Delaware. Lived on base in Nurenburg--my sisters, Caroline, Noreen and Sylvia all went to the local base schools. Hung out with Ceretha Terrell, Bonnie Akers, Stanley Hatcher. Had a blast growing up there--some incredible memories...oh yeah, where are you Pearo Ackles? Anyone out there??

I've not been in this part of the website for several years, so a re-view and update is in order. In 2007 I received a Masters degree in Military History from Norwich University, Northfield VT. My final paper was on WW II Military Chaplains in Combat (e-mail me if you'd like a copy). Until recently I held an appointment as Senior Historian at the Gold Star Military Museum of the Iowa National Guard. I am currently President of the 34th Infantry Division Association, whose members are primarily WW II veterans, in combat from the Nov '42 landings in North Africa to the Sep '45 standoff against Marshal Tito along the Italian/Jugoslav border.

Out of curiousity I Googled Nurnberg American High School and look what I found -- a veritable treasure trove of information about NHS alumni. What a nice surprise. I even remember some of the names of folks who have left messages. I attended NHS during the 1960-61 and 1961-62 school years. Returned to the States and graduated from Junction City HS (Ks.) in 1963. I retired in 2002 after working in technical education for 33 years, most of that time as an administrator. I would really like to contact a couple of special people with whom I attended NHS, Cecil Albright and Ginny Shore. Anybody know where they are?
