Nürnberg Alumni Association

Electronic Archive

The NAA electronic archive has two major sections.

The NHS section is a place where you can take a nostalgic trip back to the time when you attended your all-time favorite school. It is also a history site, the repository for the memorabilia of a unique school in a unique school initiative, the American Dependents School System.

The other section of the archive contains the history of another favorite institution, the Nürnberg Alumni Association.

If you click on the link below for Nürnberg High School, you will find that this section of the archive is arranged in chronological order so that it is  easy for NHS alumni to go straight to the school year or years when they called NHS “their school.” Clicking on one of the school years will bring you to one or more of the following kinds of files for that year:  school newspaper excerpts, the yearbook, memoirs and historical articles, photo collages.

Electronic Archive:  A Work in Progress

This electronic archive derives from the physical archives in the home of NAA Historian/Archivist Bob McQuitty and from the electronic files sent to McQuitty’s computer.  So if he doesn’t have it, you won’t find it here.

On the NHS side, what you will find in any given year depends on a number of factors:

     1) Do we have copies of the school newspaper in the home files for that year?  The extant copies of the Army Brat and the Trichter vary greatly.  A number of years are complete but a larger number are completely empty. Most of the early and middle years have some issues.  These were the newspaper files brought to the U.S. by Gila (Erving) Montfort,’65, and Betty (Sparkman) Hickson,’65, from NHS when it closed in 1995.  Various alumni have added additional issues here and there.

     2) Do we have a relatively “clean” copy of the yearbook for that year?  Approximately 17 yearbooks are already on the web site, mostly from the middle years.  More will be put up soon.

     3) Do we have any memoirs or historical articles in the home files for that year?  Most of the memoirs and articles presently in the physical archive are from the earliest years of the school.

     4) Do we have any photographs or other memorabilia in the home files for that year?

If you have school newspaper issues, memoirs, historical articles, photos, or other kinds of memorabilia that you would like to be considered for this site, e-mail Bob McQuitty, mcquittr@sbcglobal.net
